Amazon Unveils New Delivery Hub in Panama City
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) — Residents of the Panhandle can expect their Amazon packages to be delivered more quickly following the opening of a new Amazon fulfillment center in Panama City. This development also brings additional employment opportunities to the region.
Steven Burchett, who leads the site in Northwest Florida, mentioned that due to significant local interest, the launch of this 60,000-square-foot delivery center has generated 25 full-time and part-time job opportunities along with 50 additional driving roles.
"Whenever you get the chance to work for a remarkable company such as Amazon, overcoming initial barriers can be quite challenging. However, having this opportunity locally means college students could utilize it as a part-time position. The potential and variety of chances available within Amazon are virtually limitless," stated Burchett.
Prior to this facility, the nearest distribution centers were located in Tallahassee and Pensacola. The newly established site in Panama City can be found at 7801 Commerce Boulevard, Panama City, Florida, ZIP code 32404.
Additionally, this new facility will not just generate employment opportunities offering competitive wages but will also substantially improve our delivery capacities across the region.
Burchett mentioned that the anticipated delivery duration will be shortened from between 3 to 4 days down to just 1 to 2 days for clients located within a 60 to 90-minute drive from the Panama City facility.
"This facility focuses on eliminating all the additional steps and directly shipping items from the fulfillment center to your doorstep. This saves a significant amount of time for you, and it also presents a fantastic opportunity for us," Burchett stated.
Leaders at Amazon indicate that these delivery centers drive the final leg of the company’s ordering journey, enhancing delivery speeds. These facilities provide entrepreneurs with an avenue to establish their own enterprise focused on shipping Amazon parcels. Additionally, they grant independent contractors the autonomy to operate independently under Amazon Flex, offering them the freedom to craft personal work schedules.
Tens of thousands of packages are being distributed each day at this new Panama City location, and officials say that as demand increases, job opportunities will as well.
