Howe Unveils Two New Chains at Business Summit
HOWE, Texas (KXII) -- At the town's inaugural business summit, the primary emphasis was on expansion.
Expansion of the school district, backed by a $32 million school bond.
Expansion in the urban area, as work begins on a new twelve-acre green space.
Expansion in the local areas, as houses and construction projects appear everywhere you look.
And growth in business.
In our development, we've managed to secure several contracts with Taco Bell and 7-Eleven," stated Chad Crus, the Director of Land Acquisitions at CopeEquities. "We hope they will join us in the coming year.
The proposed construction of a 7-Eleven and a Taco Bell near Howe High School, situated close to Highway 75, was also a major point of conversation during the summit.
Aaron Bloomer, an engineer from TxDOT, discussed the initiative aimed at expanding the highway to include three lanes for traffic moving in each direction.
He mentioned that the commencement of work is scheduled for May.
Part of the route will undergo reconstruction to include an additional shoulder. By this coming summer, all two-lane access routes will be converted into one-way streets.
Bloomer mentioned that U-turns will be introduced on the entrance roads to improve traffic movement.
The summit participants were addressed by members of the Fire Department and the Police Department, who both announced plans for expansion in the upcoming years.
Following a recent restructuring of the department, Police Chief Jake Sullivan from Howe stated his aim to have 30 police officers on board within the upcoming five years.
Teamwork isn’t about just one person’s effort or even a select few; rather, it involves all of us uniting towards a shared objective: making the city of Howe thrive," stated Mayor Karla McDonald to the assembled group of residents, entrepreneurs, and community figures. "It requires an entire village, and each one of you represents this village.
Crus mentioned that it's the tight-knit community which draws businesses, similar to the two new franchises relocating to town.
This presents a special chance for families as they provide something quite rare in Texas at present: a touch of serene country life away from the hustle and bustle," he stated. "We're thrilled to have the ability to be a part of this.
