Argonauts Add Star QB Shedeur Sanders to Negotiating List in CFL
The Toronto Argonauts signed a quarterback. Shedeur Sanders on Monday, as per the negotiations list, according to Dave Naylor .
This grants the Argonauts sole bargaining privileges for Sanders if he becomes available for signing at any point.
Previously, Toronto included Sanders on their negotiation list but ultimately decided to remove his name from consideration.
Sanders garnered attention during the 2025 draft, anticipated to be selected in the first round. However, he ended up being chosen much later in the fifth round when the Browns decided to move up to select him.
Sanders is set to ink a four-year deal with Cleveland, and his primary aim will be building a successful NFL career. It’s highly unlikely that he would ever seriously contemplate joining the CFL, but if he does decide to make that move, the Argonauts would be the team to keep an eye on.
Sanders, who was 22 years old, played for two years at Jackson State prior to transferring to Colorado before the 2023 season. The Browns selected Sanders with the 144th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Over the course of two years at Colorado, Sanders achieved a completion rate of 71.8% with 7,364 passing yards, threw for 64 touchdowns, and had only 13 interceptions across 24 career matches, also scoring an additional eight times while running the ball.
